80 वर्ष की उम्र में भी साहित्य सेवा की भावना से लवरेज डा. सुमन मेहरोत्रा की मौजूदगी बिहार के मुजफ्फपुर की कई साहित्यिक गतिविधियों में देखी जा सकती है। इसके साथ ही साथ साहित्य से जुड़े कई व्हाट्सैप ग्रुप में इन्हें नियमित सक्रिय देखा जा सकता है।कविता और कहानी लेखन के साथ बिहार के साहित्य जगत में ये लगातार अपनी सशक्त उपस्थिति दर्ज कराती रहीं हैं।गांधी साहित्य से इनका विशेष लगाव है। साहित्यिक रचनात्मकता इनके लिए जीवतत्व समान है। वो कहती हैं- साहित्य नहीं तो जीवन नहीं। उम्र के इस ढलान पर पहुंच चुकी डा. सुमन मेहरोत्रा के बारे में यहां विस्तार से बता रही हैं मुजफ्फरपुर की कवयित्री सविता राज ।
डा. सुमन मेहरोत्रा का जन्म स्वतंत्रता से तीन वर्ष पूर्व ही हो गया था। इस तरह ये सवतंत्रता की गवाह रही कुछ खास और शेष साहित्यकारों में से एक हैं। जैसा कि ये बातचीत में बताती भी हैं कि आजादी का जश्न पैदल चल कर इन्होंने भी मनाया था और बड़ी होने पर इस बात का पता इनकी अपनी बड़ी बहन से चला। खास बात है कि नौ भाई बहनों में ये अपने माता-पिता की आठवीं संतान थी। डा. सुमन मेहरोत्रा बताती हैं कि मेरा लालन पालन अपने भतीजे के साथ भाई भाभी के पास हुआ। पढ़ने पढ़ाने का बचपन से इन्हें शौक रहा, जो आज आठ दशक बाद भी बरकरार है। इन्होंने सन् 1964में समाज शास्त्र से एमए किया, फिर इतिहास से भी एमए प्रथम वर्ष की परीक्षा पास की और फिर शादी हो गई। शादी के बाद भी पढ़ाई नहीं छुटी। पढ़ाई फिर से शुरु हुई। 1983में बिहार विश्वविद्यालय से एमए कर 87में पीएचडी, 91में इग्नू से सीएफएन और 97में प्रयागराज से शिक्षा विशारद की डिग्री हासिल की। शादी के बाद भी पति, बच्चे और ससुराल की जिम्मेदारियों का सफलता पूर्वक निर्वहन करते हुए ट्रिपल एमए की डिग्री हासिल करना अध्य्यन के प्रति जुनून को दर्शाता है।
इनका शगल सिर्फ अध्ययन ही नहीं था। अध्यापन में भी इनकी भी खास रूचि रही है। शुरु में नौकरी करने में इन्हें डर और संकोच होता था, इसलिए गुरुद्वारा स्कूल में मुफ्त अध्यापन का काम करती थीं। लेकिन बाद में इन्होंने स्कूल कॉलेजों में भी इन्होंने बच्चों को पढाया। सन् 77 से 83तक गुरुद्वारा स्कूल में, वर्ष 84 नार्थपाइंट स्कूल में, 85 से 2013 तक प्रिस्टाइन चिल्ड्रेन हाई स्कूल में सह-प्रधानाचार्या के पद पर और सन् 82 से 91 तक विवेकानंद में सुबह बीए की कक्षाएं लेती रहीं थीं। यहां पहले समाजशास्त्र और फिर 83 से हिंदी की कक्षाएं लेती थीं ।
उत्तर प्रदेश की राजधानी लखनऊ में मायका और बिहार के वैशाली जिले के एक छोटे से कस्बा जंदाहा में ससुराल। दोनों ही जगह की जीवनशैली में व्यापक अंतर होने के बावजूद डा. सुमन मेहरोत्रा के पारिवारिक और सामाजिक जीवन में कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ा। बड़ी सहजता से उन्होंने कस्बाई जीवन शैली को भी अपनाया। हां वो बताती है कि तब नजदिकी रेलवे स्टेशन शाहपुर पटोरी से जंदाहा का प्रमुख मेहरोत्रा फैमिली (ससुराल)12 किलोमीटर तक बैल गाड़ी की यात्रा जरूर कुछ अजीब सा लगता था लेकिन वह भी आनंद ही देता था। बाद में पति के साथ वो मुजफ्फरपुर में शिफ्ट कर गईं, जहां उनके पति कैलाशनाथ मेहरोत्रा वकालत करते थे और बाद में व्यवसाय भी करने लगे थे।वैसे इनके श्वसुर ओंकार नाथ मेहरोत्रा भी पढ़े लिखे और बहुत ही काबिल इंसान थे और शादी के बाद अपनी बहु सुमन को पढ़ाई के लिए हमेशा प्रोत्साहित करते रहते थे। वो बताती हैं कि सवेरे के खाना के बाद ससुराल वाले इन्हें पढ़ाई करने के लिए फ्री कर देते थे। डा. सुमन स्वीकारती हैं कि ससुराल में मिला प्यार, प्रोत्साहन और सुविधा के कारण ही मैं इतना पढ़ लिख पाई।
अपनी साहित्यिक यात्रा की शुरुआत पर बात करते हुए वो भावुक हो जाती हैं और बताती हैं कि मेरी पहली रचना एक कविता ही थी और स्थिति जन्य थी। सन् 1981में मेरे देवर के चार वर्ष का बच्चा गुरु द्वारा की छत से गिर पड़ा। मैं उसे लेकर मेडिकल कॉलेज भागी। वहां के सभी डॉक्टर्स उसको बचाने में लगे, लेकिन बचा नहीं पाये।इस घटना का मुझ पर गहरा असर पड़ा। मैं थोड़ा अवसाद में आ गई थी तब। इन्हीं स्थितियों में मेरा अपने ससुराल जन्दाहा गांव जाना हुआ। तो रास्ते में बस पर ही सोचते सोचते ही काव्य की कुछ पंक्तियों का जन्म मेरे मन में हुआ। इसी पहली रचना के साथ साहित्य जगत में मेरी इंट्री हुई। इस इंट्री के साथ ही मेरी कलम का रूख कविता, कहानी, आलेख, समीक्षा और आलोचना की ओर हो गया जो आज तक अनवरत जारी है।
डाॅ. सुमन मेहरोत्रा की पहली कविता
सृष्टि पर ऐसी भी थी एक कली, विधाता ने बनाई,उसी ने बिगाड़ी, कजरारे नैना,मखमली बदन, गुलाबी होंठ पखुॅंड़ी से खिले, कोयल की आवाज दिल की हूॅंक, किसी का कुॅंवर — किसी का मक्खन बना था, छोटू, डिक्की नामों की, श्रृंखला से बॅंधा था। भोला मासूम , पर तेज ललाट पर चमकता, प्रभु ज्योति प्रकट हुई थी। सबको रुलाता चला गया निर्मोही, ममता भी न जानी,न मानी, प्रभु की लौ प्रभु से जा मिली।
आगे की यात्रा चर्चा करते हुए कहती हैं कि मेरे गुरु डाॅ. महेंद्र मधुकर जी के साथ मुझे बहुत सीखने का मौका मिला। आचार्य जानकी वल्लभ शास्त्री व बाबूजी का आशीर्वाद मुझे मिला। बेला,गवाक्ष,सांवली, नया आलोचक, खत्री हितैषी, सात्वती, साझा संकलनों, विभिन्न पत्र-पत्रिकाओं, समाचारों में मेरी रचनाएं प्रकाशित होती रही हैं।
वर्ष2008 में अंतरराष्ट्रीय गांधी अध्ययन एवं शांति शोध केंद्र द्वारा प्रकाशित अनासक्ति दर्शन में इनका लेख गांधी के सपनों का भारत प्रकाशित हुआ था। तात्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह द्वारा एक हजार रुपए के साथ इसके लिए वो सम्मानित भी हुईं थीं। कई कविगोष्ठियों में भी सम्मानित होती रहीं हैं। कविवर आचार्य केदारनाथ द्वार भी आचार्य जानकी वल्लभ शास्त्री सम्मान पत्र और वस्त्रालंकार से भी इन्हें सम्मानित किया गया। घर पर बीमार पति की सेवा करने के लिए ‘महा सती सावित्री ‘सम्मान भी इन्हें मिल चुका है। लायन्स क्लब से सम्मानित होने के साथ साथ विद्यालय में श्रेष्ठ शिक्षिका के रूप में भी ये सम्मानित हो चुकी हैं।
वर्तमान में ईमेल सहित कई पत्र-पत्रिकाओं में प्रकाशित होती रहती हैं। ‘आचार्य देवेन्द्र नाथ शर्मा का व्यक्तित्व एवं कृतित्व’ प्रथम शोध ग्रंथ प्रकाशित हुआ है। ग्यारह कवियों का संकलन’ कुरुक्षेत्र में कवि ‘ में इनकी अठारह रचनाएं प्रकाशित हो चुकी हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त भी काफी संख्या में साझा संकलनों में इनकी रचनाएं प्रकाशित होती रही हैं। साथ ही इनकी अनेक रचनाएं इनकी डायरी व मोबाइल में कैद हैं जो कई पुस्तकों के रूप में प्रकाशित हो सकती हैं लेकिन उम्र के इस पड़ाव पर अब वो प्रकाशन का दाव पेंच में उलझना नहीं चाहती हैं। डा. सुमन मेहरोत्रा मानती हैं कि सादगी भरे जीवन के उतार चढ़ाव में प्रभु की असीम शक्ति का साथ आज भी उनके साथ है। उम्र के हर पड़ाव को आनंद के साथ पार किया। जीवन के कुछ उद्देश्य रहे सत्य बोलना,समय की पाबंदी, बड़ों का सम्मान, छोटों को प्यार और सर्व शक्तिमान प्रभु पर पूरा भरोसा। इन्हीं उद्देशयों के साथ आगे और आगे बढ़ती ही जा रही हैं।
